c.1952 Courtland, Mechanical Moving Van Truck in Original Box
Terrific lithographed tinplate Mechanical Moving Van manufactured by Courtland. From their series of simple "box-like" vehicles. Complete with original and correct box. Clockwork truck consisting of simple block-like components made entirely from three pieces of folded tinplate. This series did not incorporate Courtland's famous "Guaranteed for Life" motor certificate (i.e., the motor is not removable). But, not to worry...it works great! Orange-yellow colored lithography with red and black details (signage, manufacturer's logo, front fenders, and grille sides). Tires are made of pressed black rubber which have hardened with age. Original box printed with red on gray, thin cardboard. Two main panels include the catalog number, toy name, and manufacturer name and address. The remaining two main panels were illustrated with the four trucks from the series. A small check box was located above each drawing. And it's correctly checked with the "moving van" box. Endflaps were also printed with toy name and catalog number. Size: 8½". Sold: Sep. 2008
